UK Criminal Detention Agreement with Pakistan

 

Since Brexit, UK immigration has been in crisis. All efforts to stop illegal migrants from entering the UK by boat via France have failed. To save lives, the Home Secretary wants to move more refugees and economic migrants to Rwanda. Despite the deployment of large numbers of security officers, the number of illegal immigrants crossing the Channel from Europe to Britain has increased. On 17 August 2022, the British Home Secretary signed a bilateral agreement with Pakistan on criminal detention, under which convicted or suspected criminals, as well as illegal residents who have breached immigration laws, can be transferred to another country in Islamabad. And can be sent to London.

The agreement was announced on 17 August 2022 and was signed by Home Secretary Yusuf Naseem Khokhar on behalf of Pakistan. It is the seventh deal in the past 15 months by the UK to deport criminals and people wanted for immigration offenses. Indian-origin British Home Secretary Priti Patel signed the agreement on behalf of the UK. Earlier, such an agreement was also signed with India, Nigeria, and Albania.

Such short-term contracts for foreigners were discussed and criticized under Interior Minister Rehman Malik, before being definitively suspended under Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan.
